Inspiration
I have a deep interest in Classical Greek and desire greatly to improve upon my knowledge of the language by being able to type words I find interesting and store them to be referred back to when needed. I thus reasoned to create my own website for this as I could not find any tools which would fulfil this purpose (note my 'website' is more like a personal workshop)
What it does
Transliterates English letters to greek using a combination of letters and symbols. These words may also be stored in something I have termed 'Lexicon', which is where I store these words and assign grammatical value.
How I built it
I built it with a combination of HTML CSS and Javascript
Challenges I ran into
Certain unfamiliar javascript elements and the relocation of the word to lexicon Scaling Issues for mobile and larger screens (in the process of writing the code to solve)
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
A very much enhanced compendium of knowledge to draw upon when using Javascript and overall design using CSS
What I learned
Mostly Javascript skills but also some interesting CSS designs (linear gradient etc.)
What's next for Transliterator
I am currently working on transferring words created using the keyboard to a different sort of database, namely one for ancient location names. I hope to create a map where a rough area or when possible coordinates (for cities) will appear when one hovers over a map. I also plan to create a second keyboard for an Indian Script called Brahmi.
