Our goal is to make online transit planning more accessible and equitable. This application can be used as a website in public kiosks in community centers, libraries, etc. Here, users will be able to email, text, or print their route for portability. On the mobile app, users will get real-time updates on bus arrival as well as destination alerts. An assistant (family member, community member, etc.) can also set up an account and monitor alerts in real-time. The platform allows for multiple languages, visual zoom, and audible prompts for increased accessibility - our target users are seniors, non-English speakers, and riders with visual and auditory impairments.
We envision the application has potential for integration with Transportation Demand Management programs and individualized trip assistance. Additionally, the application will transmit anonymous origin and destination data to VTA that includes information about search and real trip patterns to reveal useful data about trip demand.
