Routeabaga

Inspiration

We were inspired by the desire to save time and money on transportation.

What it does

Displays several modes of transportation and the associated costs and travel time for each.

How we built it

We built Temporary_Name using JavaScript and HTML, but utilized INRIX's FindRoute API and Google Maps' Directions API. Additionally, we used INRIX's SafetyAlerts-Incidents, and INRIX's FuelStations.

Challenges we ran into

The main challenge we ran into was lack of experience with API's. Our group had minimal experience with calling API's, which required us to devote several hours to learning the process and best practices.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are very proud of figuring out how to call API's, as well as never giving up. There were several moments where we had to ask for help from several different people in order to push through, but we never became discouraged or thought of giving up.

What we learned

We learned great experience in JavaScript and calling API's. These are both tools that are immensely useful in today's work, and this was a great time to hammer these down.

What's next for Routeabaga

We plan on implementing a parking feature near the selected destination. Additionally, we would also love to use Uber and Lyft's API's in order to receive estimations for ridesharing apps.
