Inspiration
We noticed an overly underlying factor of major issues in California is the great number of individual cars. Public transit could reduce the total influx of cars, thereby helping to relieve California issues.
What it does
The project currently features the communal and personal benefits of taking public transit, common misconceptions, and a map to find accessible bus ride at the moment.
How we built it
We used React-native to build a responsive native application. We collaborated via Github.
Challenges we ran into
The toughest part of the development was when we were trying to merge each other's code, it crashed due to many dependencies or environmental issues. We ended up spending hours and hours troubleshooting.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud that we pulled an all-nighter and still enjoyed the whole competition regardless of whether we were tired or not
What we learned
We learned that collaborating together with teammates who have different development experiences requires better and more frequent communication during the development process, which humbled us greatly. Also, we were taught that building a meaningful project requires not only great technical skills but also communication skills.
What's next for TranShow
We plan to improve the overall flow, style, and provide more functions for accounts. Further, arrangements are underway to include a leaderboard ranking the number of times a person has taken public transit. Also, We will implement GTFS Realtime of the Google Transit API to fetch real time data of the bus’s arrival time and location.
