Inspiration

REVThink was inspired by the pressing challenges faced by McMaster University's student housing, including limited space, rising housing prices, and environmental concerns. The inspiration came from the need to find innovative solutions that optimize living spaces while addressing affordability and sustainability.

What it does

Transfurniture by REVThink is a solution designed to transform student living spaces. It offers multi-functional furniture wardrobe for bedrooms, maximizing the use of available space. The transfurniture aims to enhance the overall living experience by providing adaptable, eco-friendly, and cost-effective solutions.

How we built it

The REVThink team built Transfurniture through a collaborative and iterative design process (Using AutoDesk Inventor). The development involved:

  • Research into student housing challenges and room constraints.
  • Conceptualization of multi-functional furniture for various room types.
  • Prototyping and testing of designs to ensure functionality and safety.
  • Integration of eco-friendly materials in line with sustainability goals.
  • Iterative refinement based on user feedback and feasibility assessments.

Challenges we ran into

The team encountered challenges related to:

  • Balancing functionality with simplicity for user-friendly design.
  • Ensuring structural soundness while optimizing space.
  • Sourcing and integrating eco-friendly materials without compromising durability.
  • Adhering to McMaster University's room size constraints in the design process.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

The team is proud to have:

  • Successfully addressed the challenges posed by limited space, affordability, and sustainability.
  • Created a design that prioritize user safety, ease of use, and adaptability.
  • Achieved a balance between innovation and practicality in the transfurniture concepts.

What we learned

Through the development of Transfurniture, the REVThink team gained valuable insights into:

  • The complexities of designing multi-functional furniture for compact living spaces.
  • The importance of incorporating user feedback and iterative design processes.
  • Balancing aesthetics, functionality, and affordability in design solutions.
  • The importance of time managenement
