Every year, thousands of employees feel lost while choosing their health plans — overwhelmed by jargon, confused by options, and afraid of making the wrong decision. We met people who said they picked “the cheapest plan” because they didn’t understand the rest. That pain inspired us to create a system that speaks human, not insurance — turning confusion into confident choices through empathy and AI.

What it does

Our AI-powered Benefits Assistant helps employees understand and select the best health insurance plan for their unique needs. It uses Amazon Bedrock (Claude/Titan) to answer questions in plain language, compare plans, explain costs, and provide personalized recommendations — all within an intuitive, interactive dashboard.

How we built it

We built the frontend in React (Next.js + Tailwind) for a smooth, responsive user experience, and the backend using Flask + PostgreSQL for secure data management. The AI layer runs on Amazon Bedrock, using large language models for natural conversations. JWT authentication, AWS SES email integration, and S3-based document storage complete the full-stack flow.

Next, we’ll expand beyond health coverage — adding vision, dental, and financial wellness benefits. We plan to fine-tune the model with real employee data (securely and ethically), enhance multilingual support, and integrate with HRIS systems to make benefit enrollment truly one-click and personalized for every employee.
