Inspiration
Rewatching a one-hour lecture to find a single quote is slow. Most YouTube videos already carry captions, so the text exists; it just isn't easy to get out.
What it does
TranscriptYou turns a YouTube link into readable text. Paste a watch page, youtu.be, Shorts or embed link and the full transcript appears in seconds with a timestamp on every line. You can switch between every caption language the video has, copy the text in one click, download it as TXT or SRT, or hide the timestamps for clean notes. A separate summary page adds AI key points for long talks.
How we built it
A lightweight web app that reads the caption tracks YouTube already serves for public videos and renders them as clean, searchable text. Each video gets its own shareable transcript page.
Challenges
Handling every link format (watch, youtu.be, Shorts, embeds) and videos that have several caption tracks in different languages.
What's next
More tools around the transcript: better export formats and summaries for long lectures.
