Inspiration

We were inspired by the unsung heroes, who are standing and fighting for the safety of humanity amidst ongoing pandemic. Our primary aim is to pace up the process of developing COVID-19 Vaccine.

What it does

Trangen is a new scientific standards and protocol development project. We are calling for research subjects, institutions, and researchers to adopt our platform to allow for better data provenance, data sharing, and data privacy. Tragen is powered by a Matic Blockchain Network, for uploading genomic sequence by enabling transactions recording Proof of Existence of Published or Pre-Published research. Trangen takes care of the problematic cross-border regulatory work through a common standards framework, allowing true cross-border collaboration.

How I built it

We built the platform on top of:

  • Matic network
  • Vuejs
  • UI - Vuetify
  • Firebase Storage
  • Firebase Realtime Database (for efficient query)

Challenges I ran into

Technical Challenges

  • IP protection algorithm.
  • Automation of Citations.
  • Automation of Verification of any new submission/
  • Fully decentralized search indexing.

Personal Challenges One of our team member “Prashi Dover” who was contributing with frontend dev and genomic sequence data sets, opted out because of unfortunate personal reasons. Though she is fully confident for the idea and would continue with the team to progress further post hackathon.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

We are proud of how we could efficiently push out a website while allowing everyone on our team to contribute equally. After beginning with our entire team working together by evaluating multiple ideas by using idea validation method by YC Partner Kevin Hale. We split up into two teams. Shivansh and Siddharth worked on the front-end and back-end and smart contacts of the platform while Ishu worked on the product design and documentation. We also learned various CS skills while also helping our community at the same time. In addition, we are also pleased that we have created another scenario that Blockchain can help ease our lives. We are excited to see how our project will be able to create opportunities for other people to make a positive impact on their surroundings.

What I learned

It's my first project requiring the use of Blockchain tech and I really learnt a lot, starting from the theoretical brainstorming and scoping out edge cases of our solution to actually getting my hands dirty with Solidity, its design patterns and technical challenges around it. Funnily, it's also my first hackathon in which half of it was spent on brainstorming rather than actually hacking so I really narrowed down the tech stack to bring out the minimum viable product.

What's next for Trangen

We have done the research and realized the impact “Trangen” could create, and be of importance for researchers and experts in Genomics. We would continue with the mission we have taken. Upcoming development goals post Hackathon is the following:

  • Citation and Incentives.
  • Fully Decentralized search indexing.
  • Census Algorithm for auto-verification of original data submissions.

We plan to reach out to Health Care Institutions for spreading the word for active contribution on Trangen. Amidst the ongoing crisis. We believe Trangen will help Real Avengers to assemble and collaborate for saving humanity.
