Inspiration India has 600 million smartphone users. Most of them scroll for 3-4 hours daily — and walk away with nothing. No skill. No knowledge. Just wasted time.
I am a vocational teacher at a government school in Dewas, Madhya Pradesh. I watched my students spend hours on reels and shorts, and I thought — what if this same scroll habit could build their future instead of killing it?
That was the beginning of Trandia.
What it does Trandia is a short video app with one difference: every scroll is a choice.
Fun mode — enjoy short videos like any other platform Learn mode — skill-based content across 26 categories, 522 topics After every 5 Learn videos, an AI-powered Hindi quiz tests what you watched A TLS Garden score (0–100) grows as your knowledge grows — your scroll becomes your skill proof Parental controls built in — because our users are students How we built it We built Trandia in a school computer lab in Dewas during summer. Flutter frontend. Python backend. A team of students who had never built an app before.
We had no funding. Then the Dewas MLA saw the idea and gave us a ₹1 lakh grant.
We had no server. We figured it out.
We had no experience. We learned as we built.
The APK is now in testing. Play Store launch is this month.
Challenges we faced Building a production app with students who are beginners No dedicated development infrastructure — school lab computers, limited internet Migrating Firebase projects after losing access to the original account Removing broken features (Agora voice/video) cleanly without breaking the app Keeping the team motivated through months of unpaid work What we learned That the best products come from real problems. Every student in India faces the scroll trap. We live it. We built the solution from inside it.
What’s next T-Coins (reward system), competitions between creators, and a creator earnings path — so a student in a village can scroll, learn, and earn.
Trandia is not built for India. It is built by India. From a school lab in Dewas, MP.
