Inspiration
Our love for biking and hiking this summer sparked the idea for Trailblazer. our goal was to create a user-friendly app, similar to apps like yelp, but for outdoor enthusiasts.
What it does
Trailblazer is a dynamic biking trail finder. Powered by Google Maps API, hiking trail API, and MongoDB Atlas, it not only locates nearby biking trails but also provides map locations, images, difficulty ratings, and a like feature. Create a user profile to bookmark and like your favorite trails.
How we built it
Using Google Maps API, hiking API, and MongoDB Atlas, we crafted Trailblazer. The frontend is built with React, CSS, React Bootstrap, and Ant Design for a visually appealing and functional experience.
Challenges we ran into
As beginners, our ambitious project presented challenges. Learning React, setting up MongoDB, and coordinating Git usage among team members were learning curves. Overcoming code conflicts required collaboration.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Despite our beginner status in Hackathon, we accomplished our goals with Trailblazer. Learning tools like MongoDB and React Bootstrap showcased our commitment throughout the hackathon.
What we learned
The journey taught us Google Cloud API, React Bootstrap, CSS, and Ant Design for frontend design, and deploying an online database via MongoDB Atlas. Git collaboration skills, including merging and pulling, were also learned throughout the project.
What's next for Trailblazer
Our next step is to enhance Trailblazer's presence by acquiring a custom domain and hosting it on a dedicated website, providing an even better experience for trail enthusiasts.
