We all hate wasting time - especially time spent sitting in traffic on the way home after work. We have apps, websites and data that can help us avoid heavy traffic, but that takes time, and I have to keep checking to stay updated - wasting time.
We just wanted a simple way to help answer the question, ‘should I stay or should I go?’
By combining NZTA infoConnect Highway SSDF Journey data with our own personal commute data - when we usually leave work and what our route home is - we could create an ‘assistant’ that could SEND ME the information I really needed via push notification, desktop alert, SMS, email, etc: how long will my commute take if I leave now, and are conditions improving or deteriorating.
Armed with that information, I could make a decision on whether I should stay and work, or have a ‘social beverage’, without having to waste more time having to manually check data to stay updated.
So we created a system called TrAkl to do that, and build an end-user application called ‘Esther’ that runs on top TrAkl, helping people make better use of their time, and helping smooth out traffic congestion (as well as increasing patronage at local responsible social beverage establishments).
