Inspiration
Our group is passionate about tracking our fitness and health, and we wanted to create a product where you can do both. We wanted to make an easy-to-use application that can actually help you meet your goals and track your health.
What it does
Users have the ability to input their food, which is then tracked by the application. Users can also input their workouts and a workout schedule to help them track what they did and when they will do it. We also include some visuals on the home page to help the user visualize their health a bit more easily.
How we built it
We started by installing required software, such as Node.js, VS Code, and working with Firebase to handle backend operations. After establishing a baseline, we divided our work into a "git workflow" like environment where we split up tasks.
Challenges we ran into
The biggest challenge was getting started; none of us had created an app like this before, so we really had no idea where to start. Another challenge we ran into was understanding how application worked together to make our web app work, but we slowly started to pick up on it.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are most proud of the fact that we are able to actually present a working demo, and we can cement this experience as our first time.
What we learned
We learned how to come together to work on a project like this in a timely manner. We also learned how complex it can be to really refine one of these applications and how it truly does take time to make refined applications.
What's next for Trainr
We would love to continue the work with data visualization to give the user a way to actually use and interpret their data. We also would love to look into refining the workout side of it to make it more modern and "exciting" to use. One example of this is a live workout tracker to input your reps as you go.
