The inspiration behind TrainbyTrain was to create an app that would support everyone in our community, as in Sammamish the majority of the population doesn't use public transport, opting for cars instead. This caused us to look toward the carbon emissions in the environment and lithium batteries that get dumped into landfills to try and understand how bad this reliance on cars can be for the environment. TrainbyTrain helps to find any public transport in any place or anytime, as the app tracks where you are on a map before giving you recommendations for public transportation based on the amount of time it would take and how much money you would have to spend. At Magnolia we built TrainbyTrian with Google Slides, and because it's only a wireframe, we wanted to make it simple and straightforward so that anyone is able to understand what it does immediately when they see it. Nor Shriya or I can code, and our last teammate wasn't at the Hackathon. We faced the roadblock of not understanding how or what to do and where to start as we are both inexperienced and were previously solely focused on the business aspect of Technovation. We are both proud of making do with what we have, our skills are nothing extraordinary, but we were able to make a functional wireframe within the time we were given. We learned how to manage and plan during times of stress and setbacks while figuring out the different side of the Hackathon, that being the coding part, which allowed us both to gain further knowledge and grow our skills for future coding projects and Hackathons. After this Hackathon, TrainbyTrain will be given minor adjustments before being submitted to the Technovation Girls competition, where it will be evaluated internationally by judges across the world.
