Feedback on trains is the engine for improvement. Currently the most renowned travel survey takes place two times a year leading to slow improvements and often loss of fine detail when it comes to customer sentiment and opinion.

What it does

We have designed TrainBot a travel companion which customers can use to identify issues or delights in their rail service which feeds into an online dashboard, this gives travel providers the ability respond to real time feedback and the Department for Transport can see a top level overview of how franchises are delivering services.

How we built it

We worked in an Agile approach to both software development and design, through the last night we were having hourly standups to continually check in and make us work at our highest efficiency.

Challenges we ran into

  • A significant lack sleep
  • Hard to test local environment
  • Spent some time getting aligned on an idea

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We spent time to get to know one another at the beginning of the hackathon so forged a strong team friendship.

What we learned

We learnt how to work well in a team, the benefits of a cross disciplined team and the mechanics of deploying a chatbot which can work on mobile and desktop.

What's next for TrainBot

TrainBot will continue to be your travel companion. Assisting customer to get timely resolutions to their concerns.
