The curvature of the track gave us a new idea that's different that a car in a racetrack: a Train Car! The curvature was perfect for an articulating carriage where the battery is to be placed in the back carriage, and the motor and transmission in the front.

The frame of the train was done using usual solid modelling on SolidWorks. To make the train aesthetic, an outer shell that resemble a bullet train was surface modeled, which gave it a curvy and smooth look, the way the surfacing was done allowed it to be printed with no supports.

The power transmission was done using bevel gears and pinion to drive both front wheels using one DC motor.

The main challenge was attaching the motor to the very low driveshaft of the wheels; the motor (when flat onto the chassis) was too high to mesh with the driveshaft. The fix was to approach the shaft with an angle to be able to reach the shaft.
