Inspiration
The Campfire marks a temporary (or permanent) haven in an adventure outdoors. It represents the symbiosis of humanity and nature. Unfortunately, exacerbated by the COVID pandemic and the influx of stay-at-home jobs, our connection to nature has been diminishing. This can be attributed to just lack of ease, time, or energy. We wanted to expand people’s connections to the world around them. We found that a dating-style app that could revitalize the awe and love that humans innately share for nature would not only facilitate being outside, which can greatly reduce stress, but be a fun activity.
What it does
Trailverse is a web app that facilitates and personalizes outdoor hikes or walks. The user only needs to put in the information for their optimal height, then they can use our browse page that gives them options where they can view and choose the scene they would like to experience. After their adventure, they can upload photos, reviews, or new destinations to ameliorate the experience for all users.
How we built it
The prototype was built using Figma. The web is built with react and bootstrap
Challenges we ran into
We have limited time on this project so we focus on the design prototype first and work on the development later.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The design prototype is aesthetic and interactive. We also built a development road map for future improvement.
What we learned
Teamwork! Figma prototyping skills! Design skills! Ideation skills!
What's next for Trailverse
The Community Pages have still yet to be developed. It works locally but doesn't have a site to host it.
