Inspiration

The inspiration for this product comes from one of the Co-Founders, Eugene's, previous experience as a fleet washing operator. Having experienced how labor intensive this work was by working 11-17 hour days, Eugene designed the TWB to automate the process of fleet washing. Eugene knew that if he had this product, he would have been able to clean more trucks in less time. This product would allow fleet washing operators the ability to work shorter days and increase their income by being able to wash more trucks in less time.

What it does

The Trailer Wash Buddy is a mobile trailer-cleaning system that facilitates the cleaning of the exterior surfaces of a trailer. The system includes at least one brush assembly, a roof carriage, an agitation mechanism, and a steering assembly. At least one brush assembly enables the cleaning of all the trailer's exterior surfaces including the rear of the trailer and any non-flat surfaces. This product functions as an electric toothbrush on wheels for cleaning trucks!

How we built it

The product was designed over a 2 year process, conducting extensive research in order to identify market fit and the needs of fleet washing operators.

Challenges we ran into

The biggest challenge we have run into is access to capital. The patent process as well as the manufacturing process has taken a considerable amount of time due to the fact that our company is in need of capital or seed investment in order to make this product a reality.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

The accomplishments that we are most proud of are our 2 design patents and our utility patent pending.

What we learned

We have learned that this space and other niche labor fields have significant problems to address and companies have a willingness to spend money to address labor turnover. This is an overlooked industries. We have learned that process for beginning a startup is a long and bumpy road, whereby entrepreneurs must stay agile and be ready for anything. We have also learned the importance and value of having advisors: having sourced feedback from MBA professors and professional entrepreneurs, we have been able to refine our business model.

What's next for Trailer Wash Buddy

Next for the Trailer Wash Buddy is to finalize the Cost of Goods in order to confirm the unit cost for our product. We are also developing an advisory board to strengthen our team's credibility in order to begin sourcing capital from VCs and angel invesors.
