Inspiration
Our friend Riley is an anthropology major who talks to us all the time about anthropology and archaeology. On the bus to YHack, we came up with an idea to build a system to make collaboration between archaeologists easier.
What it does
Trail allows archaeologists to capture images and write descriptions of their finds with a simple mobile app, which are then tagged with the current location of the user. Other users can see the finds as well, as well as look at all finds with a web app.
How I built it
We used Android Studio for the app, and Brackets for the website.
Challenges I ran into
ImageViews don't work nicely with URIs
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
Billy got to make an Android app for the first time in his life!
What I learned
How to make a WebView work as an ImageView
What's next for Trail
Judging, and hopefully getting Riley and her colleagues to use it and iterate on it.
