Inspiration

Transportation and the urban environment are things we have always been passionate about. Through data and computer science — we strive to make a better world for everyone.

What it Does

TrafficDown measures the traffic density at three intersections along Huron Church street and predicts the best time to drive there.

How we Built it

The data were analyzed with Python, while a web application was developed for it with ReactJS, HTML, and CSS. As this was done, there was a database to obtain data from that was created by Firebase.

Challenges We Ran To

Effective communication and teamwork due to the difference in time zones. It was hard to have synchronous team meets as some of us had 8+ hour differences.

What we Learned

How a hackathon works, and how to collaborate with writing code with git commands.

What’s next for TrafficDown

Predict the vehicle’s type density at a given time per location. Predict the best time for crossing. When the road is at its the busiest.
