Inspiration

Due to the problems faced by the delivery partners on their way to the customer there is a delay in the whole process of a successful order execution.The problems include traffic jam, rain and various other causes.Our solution Traffic Mate deals with these problems and helps in the delivery of the product to the customer on time.

What it does

The approach of our solution is that , we will be developing a tool with similar characteristics like google maps but it has an extra feature of weather assistance.This feature suggests the best route for the delivery person by combining the google map features and the future weather trends.The other main feature of the tool is that it suggests the delivery carrier the best places to park his vehicle by monitoring the active orders in the nearby hotels.

How we built it

The basic approach is using a KNN Machine learning algorithm to predict the best place for the delivery man to park the vehicle by calculating the least distance from the nearby hotels receiving maximum orders. For suggesting the best route we integrated weather assistance feature with google maps.

Challenges we ran into

For the use of KNN Machine learning algorithm the dataset was not available hence we managed to create our own for the working model.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Integration of weather feature with google maps was too difficult to integrate .

What we learned

We learned how to tackle a problem in the project through team work and spending hours to correct whats wrong and we also came across various techniques used by delivery companies for sucessfull delivery of product and algorithms behind each step of delivery.

What's next for Traffic Mate

The tool also targets in reaching the local people or the delivery boys that have travelled that route.They will help in gathering information like random checks by local civil authorities(police etc) , construction sites , road blockages caused by municipal corporation for sewage / road development. And yes , locals are the best medium to let our system know the current route situation.Hence having a prior info of the current route situation our resources as well as time of the delivery guy will be saved.
