Inspiration
I noticed that while many traders and investors share ideas on scattered platforms, there wasn’t a unified, community-driven space where one could fund, follow, and track trading strategies collaboratively. I built TradeFunder to fill that gap — combining social investing, idea funding, and trader discovery in one place.
What it does
TradeFunder lets users: Discover trending traders and ideas Fund ideas they believe in with virtual dollars Track funded ideas’ performance over time Connect with a like-minded investing community Seamlessly search and explore trading opportunities in a social, interactive environment.
How I built it
Frontend: React + TypeScript + Tailwind CSS for a responsive, clean UI Animations: Framer Motion for smooth component transitions Routing: React Router DOM Authentication: Custom context-based auth (with future scope for OAuth) Deployment: Netlify with SPA-friendly _redirects handling Design & Prototyping: Framer (for early layout prototypes)
Challenges I ran into
Handling client-side routing issues on deployment (solved via Netlify _redirects file) Ensuring the UI stayed responsive and performant with real-time interactions Integrating smooth modals and animations without blocking the experience Managing state globally while keeping components decoupled and reusable
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
Built a fully functioning SPA with real-time navigation, auth, and fund flows Created an intuitive, clean, and accessible UI in limited time Learned and implemented Framer Motion animations seamlessly Deployed a live, working MVP on Netlify
What I learned
How to handle React Router SPA routing issues on Netlify Deepened knowledge of Framer Motion and advanced animations Efficiently managing state with React Context and Hooks Deploying and debugging production-level React apps
What's next for TradeFunder
Integrate real-time market APIs for live trade tracking Add social following and notifications Enable virtual portfolio leaderboards Implement OAuth authentication (Google, Discord, etc.) Expand idea funding into crowd investing competitions and leagues
