Inspiration
The inspiration for this project was to solve the problem of spreading the covid virus with the technology of openscreen's dynamic QR codes. I wanted to utilize QR codes to see their full potential in collecting data from users that benefits both sides of the party, company and consumer.
What it does
TrackQuack gets data from its user to track where they have scanned the code from. The QR codes they scanned have the potential of redirecting them to a business's website/social. This is extremely helpful for covid contact tracing as tourists can scan QR codes in business to learn about the business and know where they have been.
How I built it
I built this application using node.js and openscreen's node SDK.
Challenges I ran into
Being a solo hacker and being on my 2nd hackathon, I had difficulty juggling the workload of building an app on my own. I had to learn how to use openscreen, learn node.js, film, create the logo, and edit my demo. It was too much to handle and was very dangerous for my mental well-being.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
I am very proud of how my demo turned out to be. I went to different locations to film my app in action and even edited it while it was mother's day. I am also proud of myself for learning new technologies in under a span of 48 hours.
What I learned
I learned how to utilize new technology and I learned how to use node.js.
What's next for TrackQuack
There is a lot of potential for TrackQuack. Firstly, I could create a website where it can hold all the things it needs such as a consent form, a QR code form, and a layout for the user to easily print the QR code.
