Inspiration
The inspiration for TrackPen came from the desire to enhance the functionality of laptops without relying on expensive touchscreens or external tablets. Many people need precision for tasks like writing, drawing, or design, but not everyone has access to high-end devices. We wanted to create a solution that makes advanced input tools more accessible, using only the laptop's existing trackpad.
What it does
TrackPen transforms any laptop trackpad into a high-precision tool for writing, drawing, and navigation. It provides an affordable, easy-to-use alternative to touchscreens and drawing tablets. TrackPen offers customizable gestures, pressure-sensitive input, and seamless switching between tasks like note-taking and creative work, all without the need for a touchscreen.
What we are excited to learn
We are excited to dive deeper into software-hardware optimization and learn more about how to improve trackpad interaction with external devices like pens. Understanding how to reduce latency and enhance pressure sensitivity will be key areas for growth. Additionally, we want to explore new ways to integrate customizable gestures and user-defined input behaviors, making the device even more flexible for different users and tasks.
Usage of Trackpen
TrackPen is a great product because it democratizes access to high-precision input tools without the need for expensive hardware. It offers an affordable solution for students, artists, and professionals who require more precise control for tasks like writing, drawing, or design but don’t want to invest in a touchscreen laptop or a specialized tablet. The simplicity of its plug-and-play functionality makes it accessible to everyone, and its versatility across platforms ensures that it can fit into many different workflows. By turning something as common as a laptop’s trackpad into a powerful tool, TrackPen provides value in a way that’s both innovative and practical.
