Inspiration We are not able to take action on the increasing illegal wildlife trade that is posing threat to most species due to lack of co-ordination and communication. In such a situation, there is a need to establish a communication channel, so that the culprits are punished and this illegal trade is completely curbed. This need gave us an inspiration to provide a solution.

What it does The TrackPeer app aims to act as a centralized hub of communication, a resource centre and an emergency go-to app for verified CWT and IWT personnel representing NGOs as well as all other governmental and non-governmental entities working in this arena. The focus is on promoting communication between entities working in the same area or on similar things so that fellow organizations are aware of each other and are able to carry out their operations efficiently without compromising each other's investigations and safety. The app provides a strong multi-step verification process for authentication of the users before they are finally assigned log-in credentials. Once registered, the user (may remain anonymous) is able to flag a particular location or entity (organism, product/part) using limited keywords that the database provides (or any other) to describe their activity. Efforts are aimed towards limiting this information sharing to the bare minimum. When a fellow organization runs a search using certain keywords, they are able to see all the flags that match their search. This makes them aware that other groups are already working on similar projects. Further communication and detail and resource sharing can be done via a chat and call feature (with end to end encryption) built into the app itself. The users may also provide their official email addresses. The app also has data about emergency contact numbers of the area the user flags. One great value-added benefit that makes the app a wholesome package is that it is also a brilliant resource centre. It is a repository for IWT and CWT-related news, books and research papers that make this app an indispensable part of any research or investigation activity the user may be interested in.

How we built it We used Amazon Web Services(AWS) to develop this application. From AWS, we used API gateway, Lambda and DynamoDB. We made databases needed with the help of DynamoDB. We defined functions in Lambda through which the databases are accessed. These functions defined were linked with API gateway that enables access to cloud storage. This completed the back-end of our application. For the front-end, we designed using HTML and CSS. The front-end and back-end were linked using JavaScript. And Tomcat was used to run this application.
