Inspiration
We are inspired to create TrackMyAttendance by the problem of attendance fraud in schools. we knew that many students were getting away with not attending class and that this was a major problem for the students and the government. The government provides financial aid to many students, and it is important to ensure that these students are actually attending class and there is no misuse of the scholarship.
What it does
TrackMyAttendance is a mobile and web application that uses facial recognition to track the attendance of students in real time. The app is easy to use, and it can be used by teachers to track the attendance of students in their classes. The attendance data is sent to a server, where it is analyzed and stored. The government can then access this data to track the attendance of students who are receiving financial aid.
How we built it
We built the TrackMyAttendance app using a combination of native Android and iOS development. The app uses the fingerprint scanner and facial recognition capabilities of the device to scan the fingerprints and faces of students. The attendance data is then sent to a server using a REST API. The server is built using Python and Django.
Challenges we ran into
One of the biggest challenges we faced was developing a facial recognition algorithm that was accurate and reliable. We also faced challenges in developing a facial recognition algorithm that could work in a variety of lighting conditions and with different angles.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of the fact that we were able to develop a fingerprint scanning and facial recognition algorithm that is accurate and reliable. We are also proud of the fact that we were able to develop a mobile app that is easy to use and that can be used by teachers to track the attendance of students in real-time.
What we learned
We learned a lot about facial recognition technology while developing the TrackMyAttendance app. We also learned a lot about mobile development and server-side development.
What's next for TrackMyAttendance
We are planning to release the TrackMyAttendance app to the public in the near future. We also plan to add new features to the app, such as the ability to generate attendance reports and the ability to send notifications to parents and students and also integrate in CCTV's.
Conclusion
We believe that the TrackMyAttendance app has the potential to make a significant impact on the problem of attendance fraud in schools. The app can help the government ensure that students receiving financial aid are attending class. The app can also help schools to improve their attendance rates and to ensure that all students are getting the education they need.
