Inspiration

Many of us are applying to job opportunities everywhere. When you are applying to 3 or 5 places you can just recall when you have applied. When students start applying to 60-100 places, it gets a bit harder. As college students who are about to graduate soon, we understand the struggle of applying to multiple places and forgetting which job you had applied to. Due to this common problem, we decided to create this program to help students track the applications they have applied to.

TL:DR We are basically professional appliers to job opportunities. We thought it would be an amazing idea to create an app that we could personally use to track all of our applications.

What it does

Takes user input and adds it to the Job Database.

How we built it

Using Python.

Challenges we ran into

We had some problems with tkinter and managing the padding of the program. We couldn't get images to work so we ended up removing that aspect in our application. Another problem in tkinter we had was learning how the Frame Grid and Pack worked. A lot of problems stemmed from trying to throw a .pack() into a grid.

We wanted to use CockroachDB but after a long time tinkering around we saw that there was no way to bypass imputing our credit card information into the website.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Creating this application. We can now utilize it and others can as well!

What we learned

How to link GUI and databases together.

What's next for Tracking Job Apps

We plan on joining a datathon to start a project on analyzing the data we get from Tracking Job Apps
