Inspiration

Trackimize was inspired by a growing need to prevent the purchase and circulation of stolen assets—especially online, where fraud is increasingly common and verification is often lacking. Having witnessed people unknowingly buying stolen items and struggling to recover them, I envisioned a solution that could both prevent asset loss and enable recovery using technology, community engagement, and AI.

What it does

Trackimize is an AI-powered asset security platform that helps users verify the authenticity of items before purchase, recover lost or stolen assets, and engage in awareness through gamified tools. Key features include:

  • AI Image Matching
  • Purchase Verification Tools (QR stickers, search database)
  • Recovery Potential Score (RPS)
  • Proximity Search
  • Gamified Awareness & Incentive Tools
  • Security Widgets, Extensions & App Integrations It helps individuals, businesses, and online marketplaces avoid fraudulent transactions and boost buyer confidence.

How we built it

Trackimize was developed over several years using over 200,000 lines of code across various technologies:

  • Frontend: JavaScript, jQuery, HTML, CSS
  • Backend: Python, Node.js, Velo
  • Platforms: Wix (for UI and database), Zapier (for integrations)
  • Integrations: eBay, Mailchimp, Google Sheets, Facebook, and more We created both a front-facing user experience with tools and games, and a backend ecosystem for automation, app-to-app connections, and browser extensions.

Challenges we ran into

  • Building trust for a new asset verification system with early users
  • Technical integration across platforms and limitations of the Wix environment
  • Scalability — ensuring the AI tools and database searches could scale globally
  • Limited early-stage funding, which slowed the pace of development at times

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • Successfully developed and launched a multi-featured platform with custom AI, games, and integrations
  • Built a unique Purchase Verification System that can work with marketplaces like Amazon and eBay
  • Secured funding from the Tony Elumelu Foundation
  • Achieved successful integration with major apps like eBay, Google Sheets, Mailchimp, and more
  • Created a platform that both solves real problems and educates users through gamification

What we learned

  • The importance of human-centered design when building security tools
  • How incentives and gamification can increase participation and awareness
  • That verification and trust-building tools are essential in today’s commerce ecosystem
  • Deepened our technical skills in building cross-platform and scalable solutions
  • Learned how to navigate technical limitations with creative problem-solving

What's next for Trackimize

We’re preparing to launch our Android and iOS apps and expand our reach across African and global markets. We're also seeking strategic partnerships with marketplaces like Amazon and eBay, and plan to scale our verification tools as embeddable APIs and browser extensions. Additional goals include growing our user base, enhancing our AI capabilities, and offering Trackimize as a white-labeled solution for businesses and governments.
