Inspiration

We were inspired by music! We believe that music is a strong way to bring cultures and identities together which can intend to find your tribe. It results in you searching for your self-identity and making your soul feel at peace. We also believe that meeting people who have similar mindsets to you and share parts of your culture can also help in terms of finding your tribe. We connected these 2 types of people to form a tribe for you to identify with. We also wanted these people to step out and socialize with others. We want there to be specially categorized events according to your culture that's determined by your location. There's also a chat feature in which you can socialize with other people in this app by texting or calling them. We believe that this breaks the stereotype of regular social media accounts and dives into something newer. Something that relaxes you and something you feel that you're not forced to do.

What it does

Tracing Tunes primarily allows its users to select their tribes and even add tribes that are not included in the system's list. It also contains a large library of various tribal music for users to listen to. Tracing Tunes also recommends tribal events that are happening within the user's location. There is a chat feature which allows users to connect and create lasting relationships. Users are also allowed to add their music to the platform. This, of course, is moderated to avoid the upload of irrelevant materials.

How we built it

We used Figma to build our UI and our design, outlining our proof of concept. Although, we did not use any other platforms at this time: we had tested out a few. We began with a thorough brainstorming session which lasted multiple hours. After that, we began to explore multiple ideas and decided what platform we would be using to accomplish this. We continued to work together on call adding multiple levels of creativity to our design until we completed it. For our demo process, we used multiple recording devices to which there was an audio problem. This led to us using Zoom as our main platform and creating our video.

Challenges we ran into

We ran into numerous challenges while doing this Hackathon. One of them would be our conflicting schedules and how we had to operate according to that. We would be having to call late at night to complete our app and work during different times of the day. We would solve this by messaging each other to ensure that our communication was strong. Another challenge would be learning how to utilize different tools in Figma as beginners. We would also be having to research regions we were unfamiliar with which added to another challenge. Although, we got through these challenges strong.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

There are numerous accomplishments that we're proud of. One of them would be exploring a new concept that we had never tried before. We had attempted to combine a mix of concepts and one of them would be event planning. We had no experience with this whatsoever and ended up researching a lot of themes which in turn led to our app being very organized. I'm proud of how nice our app turned out!

What we learned

We learned a lot including what Figma is and how to use it, we also learned about many different kinds of applications used for programming. We learned a lot about the immense amount of research that takes place to develop an app that has multiple features. We learned a lot about different music around the globe and how regions affect the music deeply due to different factors such as dialect. We also learned about the difference between cultural and religious events in regions.

What's next for Tracing Tunes

We are hoping to be able to include an auto-translate feature in Tracing Tunes so that users can be able to communicate freely in their tribal languages and those who are interested in learning these languages could learn them easily. Also, we plan to expand the platform so that users can plan their events and advertise them through Tracing Tunes.
