Inspiration

In campus life, students frequently misplace important items like ID cards, notebooks, gadgets, or keys, and recovering them is often a manual, disorganized, and frustrating process. To solve this problem, we created TraceIt—an AI-powered platform designed to seamlessly match and track lost and found items across campus.

What it does

TraceIt is an intelligent campus lost-and-found application that helps students report lost or found items and locate them efficiently. The system smart-parses item descriptions and details to ensure lost belongings quickly find their rightful owners without hassle.

How we built it

Challenges we ran into

The biggest challenge was efficiently categorizing unstructured item data and designing a clean, intuitive interface that any student could navigate instantly without confusion. We overcame this by optimizing our AI prompts and refining the UI/UX workflow.

What we learned / Accomplishments

Building this project taught us valuable lessons in real-world AI integration, rapid prototyping, and user-centric problem solving. This platform can serve as a genuinely useful utility for the entire campus community.
