INSPIRATION:
We Notice there is a is a lack of transparency/traceability with regards to ingredients of food products we are consuming on daily basis from a global supply chain. Many times we have wondered if these eggs are even fresh ?,The chicken that I bought yesterday was it kept in healthy environment or was it exposed to steroid injections. The packed water I am drinking has the shopkeeper refilled it .Wasn’t it was great if we could trace back the source of products we are consuming ,the date poultry products leave the farm .It would be great if we could just scan the items and get to know all such details then we will get to where does the most unhealthy poultry products ,it will also be beneficial in stopping the spread of bird flu and many other diseases.
HOW WE BUILT:
With this motivation we try to build our product TRACEIT using Ethereum blockchain which provide transparent, secure data storage and transfer technology with no intermediary, which means each member can check the validity of the chain . Producers will post data online And stick a Qr code to products ,consumers will be able to scan the Qr code and get all the details about product.
DIFFICULTIES WE FACE:
It was challenging working with blockchain. It would be little difficult to convince producers to adapt to this method(posting data and sticking Qr code but such practices would bring more popularity to them as it would create more trust in consumers.
List of some of the Blockchain features include immutability, irreversibility and decentralized system. These features allows us a path to multiple number of improvements in our current system and creation of new systems.
One of these system that can be improved is our Poultry Supply chain system, which has a lot of area of improvement. Problems include poultry borne illnesses such as bird flu, flow pox, avian influenza, etc. And in times like that of quarantine, when you need to be beware of what you eat and where is its origin, buying poultry product is another big problem of serious concern. Therefore, we need to be capable of tracing food location history as an act of precaution and consumer satisfaction.
