Inspiration
Choosing a car is overwhelming—especially when every model has dozens of trims, features, and specs to compare. We wanted to simplify this by giving users a guided, personalized way to discover the Toyota that actually fits their needs.
What it does
ToyotaMatch takes user preferences—budget, color, features, body style, performance needs, lifestyle factors—and instantly recommends the Toyota models that match best. It delivers ranked results, comparison insights, and quick filtering so users can make confident decisions fast.
How we built it
We built a responsive web app using a React frontend. A structured matching engine scores each Toyota model against user inputs, and a small database stores model specs, trims, and attributes. Real-time input adjustments update recommendations immediately. Additionally, the database was webscraped and saved locally. Finally, we called an API to return images based on the id of a Toyota car.
Challenges we ran into
Databases were very difficult to manage, so we adjusted and bounced back with a nice clean dictionary.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
A clean, intuitive matching experience; a transparent algorithm; and a fast interface that makes car selection feel effortless.
What we learned
We learned a lot about commuication and project management. It's been a journey to work together for 24 hours, and e've learned how to practive effective interpersonal communication and teamwork.
What's next for ToyotaMatch
Adding dealership integration, live inventory, financing guidance, and AI-driven comparisons for even smarter recommendations.
