Inspiration

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, more than 56 million adults ages 65 and older live in the United States, accounting for about 16.9% of the nation's population. By 2030, when the last of the baby boomer generation ages into older adulthood, it is projected that there will be more than 73.1 million older adults.

Our inspiration was to pay attention to the pain points in seniors' life care. The Toyota app provides safe, convenient transportation options for older adults who may have difficulty driving or face mobility challenges.

What it does

The app designed specifically for older adults can help address these challenges by providing a dedicated transportation service that is accessible, reliable, and affordable. It can offer door-to-door service or pick-up/drop-off points at key locations, such as community centers, healthcare facilities, and shopping centers. With the easy and friendly user interface, the app reflects a desire to support older adults in maintaining their independence, access to services, and social connections as they age.

How we built it

We use Figma to demonstrate the concept of our app and put effort into the user experience designed.

Challenges we ran into

Neither of us has experience in developing mobile applications. Also, it was our first time attending a Hackathon. The limited timeframe really challenged our time management and critical thinking skills. But we tried our best to create an app design that is helpful for seniors living a comfortable retirement life.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud that we've enjoyed developing creative ideas or solutions together, and the experience of working on them can contribute to personal growth and development.

What we learned

We learned lots of things while implementing the project, including accessibility, and designing a friendly user interface for senior citizens. We gained insights by empathizing with the elders and thought about the different challenges a senior may face.

What's next for Toyota VividLife App

1. Carpool - Control the budget for both Toyota and our customers
2. Chatrooms - Help foster social connections and reduce isolation
3. Implement machine learning - Understand Users' pattern
