Inspiration

Struggles from a client perspective.

What it does

Serves to show a rough estimate for cost of repairs exclusively for Toyota models. The idea is it is only accessible to customers who have bought a vehicle from a Toyota dealership and it would be built into the Toyota website.

How we built it

First, we scoped out the Toyota website to gain inspiration of the style for the website. Secondly, we did market research to create a dataset that closely resembles the average costs of maintenance for Toyota depending on state of residence of the customer. Finally, we used a template from w3Schools for the style of the website and developed a program using JavaScript that displays the cost of repairs based on user input.

Challenges we ran into

Our team ran into a technical challenge in JavaScript where we couldn't figure out why the text price in the program wasn't displaying on the website after iterating through our dataset.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

The ability to collaborate comfortably without anyone feeling like their ideas are too little.

What's next for Toyota Service Cost Estimator

Scaling up the website so that its not just a concept. Ideally we'd like to include remote datasets and API's to access more data for more accurate prices based on a more precise location.
