Inspiration

We wanted to make a website because we were inspired by web development. We spent time before the hackathon preparing some skills and we came into it, hoping that we would get the opportunity to create a website. The Toyota and AWS Challenge offered a way for us to develop a website.

What it does

The website invites users to chat with an AI Chatbot to help them choose their dream Toyota model. It asks a series of questions to the users and then generates models based on the preferences expressed. It also is supposed to allow the users to compare the different models generated.

How we built it

We built it by integrating frontend and backend. We used HTML and CSS to create the frontend, including the scroll transitions we integrated into the website. We used backend to integrate the GenAI and store the information expressed by the users.

Challenges we ran into

We felt inexperienced while creating this website, despite our preparation. We often had to resort to understanding the language used while we were coding and had to often refer to external materials. As a result, we lost a lot of time that could have been used for coding. We also felt very restricted by the time, as we felt like we needed more time to accomplish all we hoped to accomplish.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We managed to create a functional website, despite the setbacks we faced. We successfully integrated AI into our website within the time limit. It helps the user find the car that they need.

What we learned

We learned a lot about web development throughout the hackathon. We learned about the various tools in the languages we used, such as the animation feature in CSS. We also learned to pay attention to the small details of web development and understood the importance of how the details work together to create a functional website.

What's next for Toyota Car Chooser

We want to integrate moving cars onto the website and create a more user friendly interface. We want to also create a mechanism to compare cars in the future and add more stylistic details to the website.
