This report will cover the design of the conveyor system created for Sanjeev’s factory. The purpose of this conveyor is to sort 2 of the products produced in Sanjeev’s factory, goat figurines and large cheerios. This design has 3 major components: mechanical, electrical and software. The overall design is comprised of 4 separate conveyors that work together to sort the products. Each conveyor follows the same design. The mechanical design of the conveyors utilizes a pulley system to reduce the number of rollers needed. In addition, a belt is used rather than a chain to limit the upkeep needed for the conveyor. The electrical system uses multiple sensors to ensure the proper identification and sorting of the 2 products. Laser sensors have also been added as a form of safety equipment. The software component, designed after the provided simulation, uses weight, material, and orientation to sort the 2 products.
