Inspiration

My inspiration behind the project was Toy Story and other childhood classic moments that all of us have experienced. Growing up like many other children, I always loved playing with my toys and imagining them fighting and battling. Some of my favorite examples are my Lego figures and my action figures. As a result, when I heard about the theme "Life's a Game," I thought it'd be perfect to make a game that reminisces about my childhood.

What it does

I combined my love for action figures and fighting and combined them with a top-down shooter. In this game, you are the main "hero," battling the other villains and red people in order to save your toy room. Along the way, there are many obstacles that you can use to protect yourself. Your mission is to kill as many villains as you possibly can and survive for the most waves.

How we built it

I built it using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. I also used QOOM as my coding editor for this project.

Challenges we ran into

Some challenges I ran into was the timing of the project. This was because while the Hackathon was going on, I had many school-related activities that I had to attend. As a result, I had to code in the middle of a cafeteria and other abnormal conditions but was able to overcome them and produce this project successfully.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I am accomplished I was able to produce this project in the little time I had and overall use a new text editor in QOOm for this project.

What we learned

I learned that when creating a project, you should always create something that you are interested in and enjoy. Rather than creating something that I didn't like, I decided to step out of my comfort zone and create a game that is fun and reflects on my childhood. In the future, I will continue to code and produce things that inspire me and allow me to reflect on my past experiences and do something I enjoy like game dev.

What's next for Toy Royale

For Toy Royale, I hope to finish out any of the lasting bugs within, as well as add a variety of other characters, enemies, guns, and addons. I also want to possibly move it into Unity to make the physics and events more realistic.
