I volunteered at Shriners Hospital for Children in their ICU, and fell in love with socially positive driven causes.

Unfortunately, many hospitals, Food banks, and even pet shelters don't have the marketing dollars to advertise their events & causes. A lot of them don't have the data to learn about how to better service their community and key businesses running.

TownToday aggregates events from local food banks, churches, pet shelters, and hospitals to make it easier for users to discover local causes to support.

I used Adobe XD, and utilized Google Cloud Platform to store Twilio API along with OSIsoft rest API.

Kelden tried valiantly to make my code work, but it was unable to run even after extensive help from mentors.

Kelden did not give up, he continued to tackle the coding issue. We both stayed up the entire night and did not allow our sleepiness to get in the way of us succeeding.

Kelden learned how to edit UI. I learned that code needs to be looked over.

I will continue to refine my startup idea. I will compete at the Big Bang competition, and will continue to represent for HackDavis!

While this project seemed a bit over my head at first, guidance from Adrian and the mentors made the process just as enjoyable as it was frustrating. I feel that the amount of things we learned outweighs the fact that our ideal final product could not be finished during this hackathon.

This project has been a very interesting and enriching endeavor for my first hackathon. I had limited experience with writing a bit in Java and Arduino and now I feel that I have gained quite a bit of familiarity with Android Studio, Google Search Engines, and other API's. As we encountered new obstacles we had to adjust what the final product would look like. In the end, while we created a specialized Google Custom Search Engine and were developing Twilio and OSIsoft program features, we were not able to integrate these useful tools with the template app that had been created earlier. The concept is still very prevalent and our goals could be accomplished if we commit to rewriting a new app for all of our features.
