About the project
In Tower Up, you’ll upgrade powerful towers to stop waves of invading enemies in this incremental idle adventure. It’s designed to deliver satisfying progression — whether you’re playing actively or letting your towers handle the action.
What it does
Provides waves of fun with or without friends!
- Start by targeting chickens to start shooting
- Earn gold to upgrade your towers and call more minions
- Beat the bosses to earn ranks and titles!
- Play together to be stronger!
How we built it
I used Meta Horizon World's Desktop Editor.
- The environment: Built entirely with the Horizon AI tool and Horizon assets library
- NPCs: Horizon assets
- Towers: Assets I own or made with blender or the AI tool
- Sounds: Horizon library mostly, a few I own and a few made with the AI tool
- Scripts: Written from scratch with some AI-assisted snippets and online tutorials/documentation
Challenges we ran into
- Balancing the difficulty and the economy for smooth progression, not only as an incremental game but as a multiplayer incremental game
- Optimizing UI performance
- Handling UI visibility per player
- Designing a gameplay experience that doesn’t rely on player avatars
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- The feeling is exactly what I was looking for
- The game is simple and you get playing almost instantly
What we learned
- A lot about creating and optimizing custom UI within Horizon Worlds
What's next for Tower Up - Idle Tower Defense
- More endgame content
- A global ranking based on total gold earned
- Custom tower skins in the in-game shop
- Some UI elements are made without UI elements which makes them not fit in some tablet screen, so moving this to proper UI
