Inspiration
Tower Tycoon Rush is inspired by a lifelong love of simulation and tycoon games including classics like SimCity and SimTower that let players build, manage, and watch their creations thrive. Those worlds proved how rewarding it is to progress from the ground up.
At the same time, modern mobile hits like Flappy Bird show that great gameplay can be immediate and effortless. The goal of Tower Tycoon Rush is to merge those two worlds: the satisfaction of simulation and growth with the accessibility and excitement of quick, social play.
What it does
Tower Tycoon Rush is a fast-paced, four-player PvP tycoon built for Meta Horizon and optimized for mobile. Players race to build the tallest, most profitable tower by collecting coins that scale incrementally with every upgrade.
Each tower includes 38 unique upgrades, with each floor representing a unique business. The goal of reaching the top and purchasing the helicopter to win the match. Coins reset each round for fresh competition, while gems, earned through performance, act as persistent rewards that for replayability.
Designed for accessibility, the game uses one-hand controls, walk to upgrade mechanics, and strong visual and audio feedback.
How we built it
This project was built with love, iteration, and technical discipline, drawing on years of experience across multiple programming languages, including advanced development in Unity, C#, JavaScript, and backend systems.
A major advantage came from integrating Generative AI throughout the process, accelerating concept design, asset creation, and gameplay iteration.
Challenges we ran into
Optimization across the board, and a variety of quirks and work arounds
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Gaining a deep understanding of the meta horizon platform. And seeing the potential for long term growth or success of a metaverse based on shared systems and an expanding shared tool-kit. Learning and being able to deploy systems at a fast rate, and envisioning progress in the future
What we learned
That the metaverse is coming, and it is fun to build for.
What's next for Tower Tycoon Rush
Next steps include PvP balancing, leaderboards, and ELO-based matchmaking, building toward deeper progression systems that merge fast, competitive play with meaningful long-term engagement in the metaverse.
Looking ahead, the vision expands beyond competition with a dedicated instance for player apartments persistent spaces accessible through a portal in the main lobby. Players will use gems earned from matches to unlock and customize their own multi-story apartments (8 to 12 floors), decorating them with collectibles and rewards earned through gameplay.
