Inspiration
Climate change has long been an ignored problem. Especially so in our country. Hence we found it heartwarming that Iceland is working to better it. We looked at the preliminary data and concluded that emissions continue to be the biggest problem. Why hasn't it been solved yet? We saw that there are already many potential solutions in literature.
What it does
An interdisciplinary approach for a combined solution with the aim to reducing the emissions, a broad policy level changes that we have discussed the validity and ability of easy execution amongst ourselves.
How I built it
Each member of the team took upon different approaches for finding a solution. Despite our busy schedules, we have been making it a point to devote time into detailed brainstorming sessions and discussions.
Challenges I ran into
The first was of course getting the data itself. It was so hard to pull data from the links. None of us are data scientists or coders. In fact we met over a study group for Coursera classes. So yeah, we discovered another website and started working off it. Next we all had different ideas which had to be streamlined.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
Pulling off the whole project with consensus.
What I learned
Learned many things about sustainable energy and environmental-friendly practices. Also, that you do not need to be data scientists or huge personalities to understand things like climate change and critically analyze them. Oh and yes to check out things like how to make a video beforehand.
What's next for Towards A Better Future
We are going to refine it for sure. Go into detailed case by case analysis.
