Tourist Shield

Inspiration

We were inspired by the dangers solo-tourists face.

What it does

Tourist Shield allows users to report crimes in different locations and see crime hotspots on a map of the world.

How we built it

We build the website with the Open Layers API using html5, css, and javascript. We stored our data in a firebase database.

Challenges we ran into

We really struggled to use firebase and had a lot of logic problems in our code.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are really proud of the challenges we have overcome. Our team has very little web development experience so building a functioning website is a big accomplishment for us.

What we learned

We learned a lot about databases and reading error messages and documentation.

What's next for Tourist Shield

We would like to give users the ability to remove accidental reports and make the website more accessible on mobile.
