Cleanly

Tourism Team #2

Overview

The Tourism industry has suffered immensely during the Covid-19 pandemic. Businesses have not been able to open until recently only until new regulations have been issued. It is imperative that the tourism related businesses within Indianapolis and around the United States find a way to encourage customers to travel.

With tourism businesses needing to attract customers, we developed the website Cleanly. This is a way to help consumers become more informed about Covid-19 related business updates. Team Members

Bradley Bolotin (Project Manager, Senior Business @ IU Bloomington) Bradley was responsible for creating the go to market strategy along with the business model canvas, value proposition and customer persona. He also was responsible for reporting team progress on a weekly basis.

Cassie Shelton (Marketer, Sophomore Business @ Ball State) Cassie helped put together some of the Environmental Map as well as researched for features on the website.

Archith (Front-end Developer, Graduate Student @ IUPUI) Archith was responsible for creating the star based review system for each of the Hotel, Restaurant component and was also responsible for Php integration along the Login and Sign-Up pages with the MySQL Database.

Ibrahim Ahmad(Front-end Developer, Sophomore Student @ Ivy Tech) Ibrahim was responsible for designing and developing the website, and he also worked on searching for information and photos about the Hotels, Restaurants and other places that will reopen this month in Indiana. (omitting bios for the team members below, but you get the point!)

How did you decide on this customer segment, problem, and solution?

We researched the Indianapolis tourism landscape and based on that, we decided to design a new product and sales strategy. We also decided that our early adopters would be young adults and business owners, so we brainstormed ways to target this audience. Overall our team decided the biggest issue was that information needed to be found in one place.

How did your team build and iterate on the solution?

Once we found out what obstacle we were facing in the tech-point S.O.S Challenge -- the decline in tourism due to COVID-19 -- the whole team had a brainstorming session with our coaches at our first team meeting. Eventually, we came up with the idea to create a website that is essentially the public’s go-to for all safety precautions in effect due to Covid-19. Then there was the issue that maybe the public wouldn’t believe businesses that claim to do these safety routines, from there came the idea to incorporate a review system. People tend to believe other peoples experiences over what businesses say so that is why Cleanly has both; Cleanly lets businesses tell how they are helping to stop the spread of Covid-19 as well as let’s people review the businesses already listed on the website.

This website pairs well with VisitIndy, but unlike anything else this website will only deal with COVID-19. There is no other website that deals strictly with Covid-19; Everyone is concerned about the sanitary routines of businesses, but there is not a universal place to go find out that information before traveling. Technical Architecture

Front End - HTML,CSS, JavaScript Database - MySQL Application Server - Php

If you had another 5 weeks to work on this, what would you do next?

We would take the time to directly interview SMEs to get personalized feedback on how our idea can be improved and marketing to effectively tackle the problem at hand. The web application is very bare bones. We would spend more time in development and look to partner with tourism businesses and VisitIndy. Eventually this website could be converted into an application.
