Inspiration
Inspiration was my non verbal son, he currently has a app similar to this but a little more advanced but its expensive to purchase so I thought I could make a free version that does the same thing that someone mite find useful
What it does
It allows parents that can't understand what there child wants to show them a menu of pictures to choose from , the parent uploads pics of things the child normally wants and adds a name with the picture then saves them to the buttons ,give the app to the child , child presses the buttons they speak the name of the item and help solve confusion all in one.
How I built it
MIT app inventor with help of Gemini
Challenges I ran into
Button spacing neatly and getting the design to look kid friendly and inviting
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
Proud that it actually works just as good as others that cost money just with a few less features and things.
What I learned
I learnt text to speech integration and getting more familiar with MIT app inventor
What's next for TouchChat
Possibly folders so foods ,TV shows etc can be in separate folder, categories or pages Sentence building.
