Inspiration
It was inspired by apps like BeReal, where it asks people to take a photo of front and back photo, but for our app it wants you to be outside to actually be able to take the photo.
What it does
When you take a photo you get waters to be able to water your plant with, the point of the app is to get the user to go outside, and "touch grass", instead of rotting at home. It's also like a social media where you can see your friends posts.
How we built it
We built it with react, and supabase for backend. Supabase was used for our auth, and bucket, and database. We also used ai to analyse the photos uploaded to check if the user was actually outside or not.
Challenges we ran into
We didn't' run into much challenges, the only difficulty was trying to create a viral video for the app.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The app came out pretty well, and not looking too bad. The functions we wanted to include were all there, and works well.
What we learned
We used technologies familiar to us, and wasn't that many things that were new.
What's next for Touch Grass
If we were to continue, we would probably build it with react native, and make it a native app, while also polishing up the plants visuals, and improve the ux for users.
