Inspiration

Touch started as a school project, a simple tablet-based ordering system. After discovering XPRIZE, we saw an opportunity to turn the data generated from everyday orders into useful business insights with AI. This led us to develop Touch E-Menu Portal: AI Assisted Operations and Analytics.

What it does

Touch E-Menu Portal allows businesses to digitally manage customer orders while automatically collecting operational data. The system transforms this data into business analytics and AI-assisted insights, helping owners understand their sales, products, inventory, and overall business movement.

How we built it

We started with a basic tablet kiosk ordering system and continuously expanded it into a functional business platform. We developed the ordering system, database, backend, analytics, and AI components ourselves. By late June, we had a functional MVP ready for real-world testing.

Challenges we ran into

Our biggest challenge was moving from a school project to a product that could actually operate inside a real business. We had to make the system practical, affordable, and simple enough for MSMEs while ensuring that the data and analytics were actually useful to business owners.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We successfully transformed a school activity into a functioning startup product and conducted our first real-world pilot test with a local café. During the pilot, Touch processed 488 orders worth ₱51,236 in revenue. We also introduced the product through startup programs and organizations in Cebu, giving us opportunities to receive feedback from actual entrepreneurs. And was able to obtain a revenue of ₱9,250, with ₱8,000 for the device, and ₱1,250 for the analytics with AI assistance

What we learned

We learned that building a startup is very different from building a school project. Real businesses have real constraints, workflows, and needs. Through pilot testing, we learned that technology becomes valuable when it solves an actual problem without making the business owner's work more complicated.

What's next for Touch E-Menu Portal: AI Assisted Operations and Analytics

We are continuing to improve Touch through additional pilot testing and real-world feedback. Our next goal is to make the platform more reliable, accessible, and useful for MSMEs, while further improving its AI-assisted analytics and operational insights. We are in the process of designing Touch Business, which will integrate both separate products: The E-Menu(Tablet Kiosk Ordering System) and E-Menu Portal(The AI Assisted Operations and Analytics Platform), into one efficient and flexible application that can be used as a digital business logs to anyone that owns a business, straight into their phones.
