Inspiration

We are solving the awkwardness and anxiety that arises from forgetting faces, names, and details at crucial networking events. The current solutions of notes on a phone or a book are slow, disruptive, and insufficient for real-time memory recall.

What it does

Total Recall is a memory assistant that redefines professional connections. It allows users to store custom contact profiles and notes in a database for immediate reference. It uses facial recognition to discreetly display names and key details next to a person when you look at them through the Lens.

How we built it

Our system is built on Snap Cloud's database & storage capability, powered by Supabase, ensuring secure and scalable data handling. Seamless Data Flow: Capture (camera gets the face) → Identify (sends image to face recognition API for matching/registration) → Save (user notes + face data stored) → Recall (info pops up instantly)

Challenges we ran into

Facial recognition: The primary challenge was getting it to work.

UI UX: Ensuring it is seamless and not clunky or awkward to be capturing photos in a networking setting.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We successfully delivered a complete proof-of-concept that captures, stores, and recalls information within a day.

What we learned

Seamless UI UX is crucial to create an experience that feels natural in a networking setting.

Discreet Design: User acceptance relies entirely on non-obtrusive UI/UX; the information must appear discreetly and vanish when not needed.

What's next for Total Recall

Integrate AI-driven Conversation Summarization to eliminate manual note entry, automatically creating valuable context for the user.

Connect with LinkedIn API, to instantly pull and enrich entire professional network data, eliminating manual entry.

Face recognition with Snap ML, that removes the need for manual face capture entirely, making the experience invisible.

Introduce a Search and Contact List to convert the data into a fully-searchable, organized knowledge base whenever needed.

Expand the user base from busy professionals to family and friends, and explore the potential for a dedicated Cognitive Assistance Tool for conditions like Alzheimer's Disease.
