Inspiration

Working with SharePoint and Microsoft Identity solutions such AD, AAD and MIM, I realize there should be a more user-friendly way to manage the users profiles than accessing to another web-site/portal or even server. Most of the information and changes can be accessed directly from where they are needed/requested, that is within the SharePoint portal itself. Why not to have a chat-bot that is able to support us on such tasks? Here Tory comes to help.

What it does

Tory make AAD user management easier because it execute human understandable language. It can also manage Office365 licenses and services and in the future it may be a really SharePoint user personal assistant.

How I built it

I customized a webpart build with the new SharePoint framework integrating the chat-bot box. I developed a third service rest api that re-design and combine the Microsoft graph API capabilities with the required business logic to make extremely easy to manage licenses, services, and update/retrieve user information.

Challenges I ran into

It was extremely interesting and challenging to re-design and integrate Microsoft graph api into my own set of rest api with custom business logic.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

The set of api services with Microsoft graph API integration I developed can be reuse not only by the chat-bot, but it can be also integrated with other software solutions.

What I learned

I had fun doing this project, it may worth only because of this :)

What's next for Tory_chat_bot_for_SharePoint

Tory can be enhanced to be a real SharePoint personal assistant with further integration with OneDrive and SharePoint list and Document libraries.
