Inspiration
Translation is useful for many reasons: understanding unfamiliar text, comparing expressions across languages, refining a piece of writing, or revisiting something you looked up earlier.
These tasks often involve switching between translation, explanations, editing, and saved notes. Toravia brings them together in one mobile app, so users can work with languages in the way that fits their purpose.
What it does
Toravia combines multilingual translation, meaning and nuance checks, AI editing, and organized history.
- Translate text into multiple languages and review the results together. Save frequently used language combinations as presets.
- Use back translation and AI nuance checks to inspect meaning, tone, and naturalness. Review explanations and suggested corrections before choosing what to use.
- Refine wording with AI: polish, summarize, or rephrase text while comparing the original and edited versions.
- Extract text from photos and screenshots, select the passages you need, and bring them into the translation workflow.
- Organize saved translations and AI edits with folders and tags, then search and reopen them for future reference.
Users can explore meaning, compare phrasing, refine text, or simply keep something useful for later. AI explanations and suggestions provide additional context, while users choose how to interpret and use the results.
How it is built
Toravia is built with Flutter and Dart for iOS and Android. Firebase supports backend services and account data. Translation and AI processing are connected through the backend, keeping service credentials out of the mobile client.
RevenueCat powers in-app purchases and Premium entitlement handling. The product model combines monthly and annual Premium subscriptions with consumable credit top-ups, supporting both recurring use and occasional increases in demand.
Product and engineering challenges
The central product challenge is keeping several language results understandable on a phone. Toravia groups results by language and places review and editing actions alongside the text they affect. Back translation and explanations give users another way to examine meaning and wording.
The purchase flow also needs to remain consistent as people buy, restore purchases, and link an account. RevenueCat provides the purchase and entitlement layer for this flow.
What stands out
Toravia brings together several ways to work with language. A user can translate a passage, inspect an expression, adjust its wording, and return to the result later without scattering that work across separate tools.
The iOS app first became publicly available on August 27, 2026. Toravia is available on the App Store and Google Play.
What is next
The next priority is to learn how people use these tools for understanding text, comparing expressions, editing, and looking things up again. Those observations will guide improvements to translation, review, and history.
Awards entered
RevenueCat Design Award
Toravia turns a complex multilingual workflow into a clear mobile experience. Users can compare translations, review back translation and nuance, refine text with AI, extract text from images, and return to organized translation history. The product is designed to keep the source, results, and next action understandable on a small screen, with focused interactions, polished motion, and a consistent visual system across iOS and Android.
HAMM Award — Help Apps Make Money
Toravia uses RevenueCat to support a sustainable hybrid monetization model: monthly and annual Premium subscriptions for recurring users, plus consumable credit top-ups when demand increases. This lets users choose predictable ongoing access or add capacity only when needed, while giving the app both recurring revenue and flexible expansion revenue.
