Inspiration

Our goal is to teach people about a number of different science and engineering topics while also learning something ourselves. This project represents the launch of our first NFT project in which we make art out of science. Here we algorithmically generated artwork based on the mathematical methods of topology optimization.

What it does

We used the Metaplex Candy Machine to enable minting capabilities for our collection's initial release.

How we built it

Using online tutorials, we used the Metaplex Candy Machine API to integrate minting capabilities into our (React) site.

Challenges we ran into

Given the rapidly evolving development, we found the documentation on the Candy Machine implementation challenging at times. We also ran into a scarcely documented issue/bug with uploading small files (a few kb) to arweave using the Candy Machine scripts.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

At the end of the day we were able to go live with our initial NFT Alpha series release.

What we learned

We learned a ton about the Solana chain and Metaplex framework during this endeavor.

What's next for Topo-Opto-Crypto a Solana NFT collection

After this Alpha drop, we plan on enabling users to create, with our "artistic" algorithms under the hood, and mint their creations on demand using pieces of the Metaplex framework. We also plan on looking into the feasibility of embedding a subset of the mathematical algorithms within the contract for a dynamic generative creation on the Solana chain.
