About the Project
Inspiration
As a fractional Chief Marketing Officer (CMO), one of the biggest challenges that my early-stage and growth companies face is awareness. They've got the killer idea. They built something amazing. They event created a great looking website ...
But they're not showing up in Search and Answer Engines.
Don't get me wrong. They spend an enormous amount of time getting their site to look beautiful - but great looking sites don't mean great performance. Most fail to optimize search.
The result? They build something beautiful that no one finds.
Most small and early-stage companies struggle with this problem until they bring on a marketing team (often much later in the process) or expensive agency services. Unfortunately, for many, time, funding and patience runs out before they are able to properly position themselves in search.
This is a problem that needs to be solved.
I built Authority Fuel with Codex and GPT-5.6 to make it easy for early-stage companies to evaluate their current website, understand what needs to be done to improve their position in search and execute on a plan that works.
What Authority Fuel Does
Authority Fuel transforms a seed keyword or popular search phrase into a search strategy. We help you build authority around the search terms most important to you.
The platform analyzes any crawl-able website and automatically generates ideas and guidance for:
- Pillar pages (long-format, extensive authority pages)
- Cluster pages (deeper dive pages that build trust around key areas)
- Supporting blog topics (short-format, deep-dive pages)
- Internal linking opportunities (links to other internal pages that support)
- Content priorities (where to focus content development time)
- Topical maps (a roadmap to building authority around your topic)
Instead of asking, "What should I write next?" teams receive an organized blueprint for improving performance in Search and Answer Engines.
How I Built It
Authority Fuel was built using Codex and GPT-5.6. The application combines:
- AI reasoning for topic generation
- Structured topical mapping
- Interactive visualizations
- Content planning workflows
- SEO best practices focused on topical authority rather than isolated keywords
The goal was to make enterprise-level content strategy accessible to small and medium sized businesses that don't have large SEO / AEO teams.
Challenges
The most difficult part of this project was creating a simple UI and an easy to understand output while also providing real value. I landed on requiring the user to enter a single domain and single keyword / phrase. My approach leverages analyzing the sitemap (when available) and using a fallback to crawl the website when required. There was also a balance of figuring out how many pages to scrape once selections were made. This is not a one-off process and will get better over time as more visitors try it. Initial testing on my client sites have produced strong results.
What I Learned
Building with Codex is nothing short of amazing. Prior to vibe coding, I spent a lot of time building websites, creating node.js applications and struggling through syntax issues. I remember going to sites like Stack Overflow and struggling with issue resolution. Now, Codex solves the most frustrating part of development - giving me more time for ideation and testing with minimal coding issues.
Instead of spending time writing every component from scratch, I can focus on product design, user experience, and refining the XEO (Search, Answer and Generative Engine Optimization) methodology behind the application - the most important stuff to tackle.
What's Next
Future versions will help level the playing field for teams that have great ideas but are invisible in search. I also plan to add functionality that generates complete content briefs, identifies content gaps against competitors, recommends internal linking opportunities, tracks topical authority over time, and helps marketers optimize for both traditional search engines and AI-powered answer engines.
The vision is to make it easier for teams with great ideas to get found in search and accelerate their growth.
